Introduction

Head North is a map that stays on your Stark VARG screen while you ride.

1. Your route, drawn as a line across the map.
2. You, drawn as an arrow. The arrow points the way you are facing.

That is the whole job. Head North does not plan routes and it does not speak directions. You plan the ride somewhere else and follow it here.

What it does

• Draws your GPX routes on a terrain, street or satellite map.
• Follows you and turns with you, so the trail ahead is at the top.
• Shrinks onto the Stark dashboard, so the map and the bike gauges share the screen.
• Reads your bike, so speed, ride mode and charge sit above the map.
• Leaves a trail behind you, so you can find your way back out of a wrong turn.
• Works with no signal once you have downloaded the area.

The bike screen

This surprises most people, so it is worth saying plainly.

The display on your Stark VARG is called the Arkenstone. Inside, it is an Android phone. It has a Play Store, a browser and a Downloads folder, the same as any other Android phone.

You do not need an Android phone of your own. If you carry an iPhone, nothing changes. Everything in these pages happens on the bike screen.

Where your routes are kept

Your routes and your rides are stored on the bike screen and nowhere else. There is no server, no login and no sync. A factory reset of the Arkenstone removes them.

What it costs

No subscription and no account. Head North is bought once, through Google Play, and there is no email address to hand over.
